On Saturday, February 4 after six grueling rounds of competition, Tam High Mock Trial was named the 2017 Marin County Mock Trial Champion. They clinched the first place title after a final round against Marin Catholic High School Sunday evening.
The Marin County tournament took place over two weekends and featured nine teams from across the Bay Area facing off in front of over thirty volunteer attorney scorers. Judge Paul Haakenson and Judge Roy Chernus, w
ho judged the final championship round noted that the teams were some of the “best they’d seen in years.”
Tam High School’s pre-trial attorneys Hayley Van Allen and Michael Pile, witness Celeste Moore, trial attorney Emily Spears and clerk Devin Guinney won individual awards for their performances. The team was led to victory by seniors and captains Hayley Van Allen and Georgia Pemberton and coaches David Vogelstein, Cary Schneider, Rick Brandon, Casey Khademi, Jack Budish, Allely Albert and Amanda Spaht. The team will face off against other county champions at the state competition March 24-26th in Riverside, California.
